Fees

Effective 5/1/2009 our adoption fees have increased.

The fee for adopting through Chances for Children / Crèche de l’ Enfant  Jèsus is now $16,000.00. This fee increase is due to the longer adoption processing times and the fact that children are under our care for 18-24 months.  Half the fee is paid when your dossier is submitted to Haiti and you are referred a child. The second half is paid when your file exits IBESR.

80% of the in country fee (as it is called) is sent to Crèche de l’ Enfant  Jèsus  in Haiti. The other 20% is retained by Chances for Children to provide adoption services, community programs (in Haiti), and to send much needed supplies to Haiti. The in country fee is used to cover a number of costs which include the following:

  • all legal fees and legal paperwork and documentation
  • all routine medical care provided to the children during their stay in the Crèche
  • travel costs of bringing birth parents into court hearings, INS appointments, etc
  • psychological evaluations and vaccinations for children
  • the day to day care of the child

The only additional costs you can expect will be for visa fees, DNA testing and non-routine medical expenses.

Your agency can provide you with a detailed account of the other fees involved in an international adoption.
