Hi Y’all,

I am going to be a single mom when my baby girl comes home from Haiti. I am just in the middle of getting my dossier completed. I had my home study visit from my social worker and that went well. He recommended getting the workbook “With Eyes Wide Open”. I got it and have started and was just wondering if anyone else had and would like to discuss some of the questions in it. It is very thoughtful but some of it is a little hard to think through from a single parent perspective. It is easy to feel alone in the process, even though I have wonderful family and friends sharing my joy and nervousness. So if anyone wants to chat about this, I’d love to hear from you!

Take care,

Hi there
My husband and I are just beginning our journey to adopt from haiti (just starting homestudy) but understand that several adoption agencies/ orphanages are not accepting applications due to the backlog from 2007/08. We still have a few months until our homestudy is complete but we would really love to work with Chances for Children/ Crèche de l’Enfant Jèsus as the care for the children seems so wonderful - does anyone have any insight into when they may be accepting applications again? Also, do you know if anyone has worked with them before from Canada (we are in Toronto, Ontario)

Thank you!
Carolyn

Dear mammies,

Thanks you all for your support and interest in our new family and our adopting process.

Our agency in Spain has seriously recommended us to stop asap our contacts because our process is just starting, and the processes for USA and Spain are quite different and, in these processes, are involved different governments with different relationships and adoption conveys. They have kindly asked us to keep the confidentiality of our process and we will, for the best of our baby and our future family.

We thank you all from the deep of our hearts for your warm messages and support and we´d like to wish you all the best.

God bless all your babies and all you.

Hello,
My wife and I have begun the process of adoption with C4C. Our Dossier is in the country, but no referral yet. In the meantime, we would like to donate medical supplies if they are needed (I am assuming they are) to the orphanage. My questions are:
Can anyone tell me what medical supplies are needed or a contact that would know?
How are these type of supplies transported to the orphanage? Is the only way to get them there via traveling adoptive parent’s luggage?
Thanks for your help.
