Haiti has no public (free) education system. Low literacy rates, graduation percentages, and increasing poverty can be attributed to the lack of access to education. Chances for Children aims to empower the young people in Haiti through providing them the opportunity to go to school. Since launching our village educational programs in 2017, we sponsor 4 rural schools in Bel Anse, Caporal, Latapi, and Hatte Chevreau. C4C supports primary level education by providing subsidized tuition rates and teacher stipends to those in these rural communities.

Our Students
In our four schools, over 400 students have had the opportunity to challenge and grow themselves academically. Earning their education empowers our students to create a new future for themselves. They desire to become doctors, lawyers, nurses, policemen, and teachers!
Our Teachers
In the summer of 2019, C4C worked with P4H to conduct a teacher training for 17 of our school teachers. Through this training, they gained practical skills and theories to apply in their classrooms. This enriched the overall educational experience for our students. Today, we employ 19 teachers and by employing local teachers, C4C is empowering current and future Haitian generations.

Our Schools
In addition to the 4 schools C4C sponsors, we also assist 2 other schools.

College Classique de Kenscoff
This school is where the children from our crèche attend. C4C supports this school with donations of food and supplies and tuition payments. There are approximately 350 students who attend this school. Chances for Children provides meals for all children who attend this school, thanks to our partnership with Feed My Starving Children.

Hatte Chevreau
C4C partnered with the pastor in this village in the summer of 2018 to create a school that would be open for enrollment by that fall. Before the school was built, many of the children attended a school in Gonaives, which is about a three-hour trip by public transportation and walking. Now, 57 students attend this school, only having to pay for their uniform.

Latapi (L’Artibonit)
A rural village in the Artibonite Department of Haiti. It is a 45-minute drive off of the main road. C4C began its partnership with the school in 2016. Working alongside the pastor who oversees the school, we have been able to see a tremendous growth in the quality of education and the number of students being taught in the past three school years. Today, 96 students are enrolled.

Bel Anse
